Having Business with International Clients
Some people say that success can really make your life harder than it used to be. There is a certain theory called the Peter Principle which came from Dr Laurence Peter that states that every employee is bound to be promote if he does well in his job, but his new position will be something he is not really suited for. In your previous position you did well because you were able to easily complete your tasks since you have the capability to do the job. In your new position, there is a whole new set of responsibilities which are more difficult than your previous ones. The new job may be more difficult but there are employees who can still excel in this and you will soon find them promoted to a higher level.
At some point in the hierarchy, you will be put in a position which is completely beyond your capability. Your level of competence, you will soon find out, was only up to the last position that you held. There is no demotion in corporations but sometimes people who get promoted to certain positions will soon find themselves getting less effective as compared to the positions they held before. However, the corporation still continues to function because those people who have not yet reached their levels of incompetence continue to do well in their jobs. There is no such success problem for a person running his own business since there is no hierarchy to speak of. You success if you do well and you suffer if you don’t. Successful business owners should try their hand in venturing in international business.
Meeting business people from other parts of the world is something really exciting. What you need to do is give them the best first impression and make them see your abilities. To achieve that, here are some thing you need to do.
Booking a jet charter company rather than making them ride a commercial flight is the first step towards making a good first impression. This sounds expensive but it is your ticket to making a good deal. And then it will not seem so expensive after all. When choosing a hotel, make sure that your choice can enhance your relationship with them instead of hinder it. Give them something that they would do for themselves if they were the ones to do it in a place familiar to them.
You need to research the kind of business guests you will be having. Some people prefer to be in the thick of things while other want a more quiet place where they can relax at the end of the day.
